What we found

The median clinic took 248.7 hours, about 10 days, to reply. Speed and reply coverage describe different parts of the work; neither measures the quality of a response.

How we did it

Collected on 2026-10-26 from Google Maps results and Google reviews. The sample contains 191 dental clinics from the top 10 Google Maps results in each of 20 cities, where available. These are the dental clinics used in our Google Business posts study.

We inspected the latest 20 reviews returned for each clinic: 3,820 reviews in total. The reply-rate median summarises clinic-level reply rates. “None” and “all” refer only to each clinic’s sampled reviews, not its lifetime review history.

The low-star group contains 230 reviews rated one to three stars. Its 54.8% reply rate is measured across those reviews, whereas the 70% headline is a median across clinics. The median clinic’s reply time was 248.7 hours, about 10 days; this describes observed replies, not a response deadline.

Limits

  • Clinics in Google Maps’ top 10 are not all clinics. Maps results depend on location and time, and this sample cannot establish a dental-industry-wide reply rate.
  • Reviews means the latest 20 only. Older reviews, subsequent replies and changes after collection are outside this snapshot.
  • A visible reply does not measure its accuracy, empathy or usefulness. We did not evaluate patient outcomes or whether replying caused more bookings.

What this means for you

Give someone responsibility for checking reviews and handling sensitive replies. Verify the facts, avoid disclosing patient information and agree when a person must intervene. Antidote’s Google profile agent handles supported review work under the configured reply policy; choose those rules deliberately with the team.
